Valentine's Day History, Origin, why is valentine's day celebrated, what is the real story of valentine's day

Every year on February 14th, in the United States and in other places of the world, people with their loved ones are celebrating in the name of St. Valentine. But what is the history of Valentine's Day and how it started?

Starting with a start, I have to tell you that it's not known for sure how the celebration became some known.

One theory is that the Valentine's Day is linked to the martyrs

One legend argued that Valentine was a priest who served in Rome during the 3rd century.

 

In one random day, in the Roman Empire, The Emperor, Claudius II,

decided that unmarried man made better soldiers than those with wives and families.

So he banned the marriage for young men.

Valentine realized this abuse and unfair and continued to perform marriages for loving couples in hidden.

When Valentine's activity plans were discovered, Claudius ordered his death.

According to another legend, an imprisoned man named Valentine actually sent a love letter to a girl before his death.

Writing in the last of Letter: "from your Valentine".

 

Many others are saying that Valentine's Day could be linked to Lupercalia, which was a festival.

 

In the Roman Empire.

Lupercalia was a fertility feast dedicated to The Roman God of Agriculture, Faunus, as well as to the Roman founders Romulus and Remus.

 

On February 14th, the Pope Gelasius declared, St.Valentine's Day.

 

During the Middle Ages, this day was associated with a start of birds mating season.

The primeval recognized Valentine still in existence today was a Poem writing in 1415.

So it seems that the idea of love was associated to this date in the Middle Ages.

 

This celebration became more and more known in the western world by 17th and 18th centuries.

Because today were more connected than ever, this story spread across the world in different places.
