Acer Nitro 5 Gaming Laptop Review - acer nitro 5 battery life - acer nitro 5 2021 amazon - which acer nitro 5 is best

 Acer Nitro 5 Laptop Review

The Acer Nitro 5 is a budget gaming computer that starts at $ 580 and can cost up to $ 1,200. The wide Nitro 5 series offers 15.6- or 17.3-inch models powered by AMD or Intel processors with GeForce GTX or RTX graphics. We reviewed the $ 670 model available at Best Buy and were surprised to find out how capable the machine was at such a low price.

This 15.6-inch laptop features an AMD Ryzen 5 CPU, 8GB memory, and graphics card for the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650. Like any budget laptop, it forces you to sacrifice less but offers the same or higher performance than high-budget laptops.

Acer Nitro 5 Laptop Design and Features

With its bright red accents and table corners, the Acer Nitro 5 looks like part of a portable desktop computer. Every plastic fence has shiny ruling areas. The bottom panel and screen bezels have a matte finish, and the lid and wrist reside under the gloss of magnetic keyboard. Red markers can be found on the letters and on the sides of the keys, a small border that forms a touchpad, and a piece of plastic engraved on the back edge of the laptop.

What games can you play the most on your laptop?

Esports articles (Overwatch, DoTA, Apex Legends, etc.)

Indie Games (Spelunky 2, Hades, etc.)

AAA Games (Cyberpunk 2077, Control, etc.)

Which really takes the red accents to the next level and marks Nitro 5 as nothing more than a four-level portable keyboard light. It shines brightly at its high level of light, and the red light gives a threatening look to the laptop.

Another feature of the 100th design is the display using WASD keys and arrows. These buttons feel and respond like other buttons but the red accents and nub on the W key give players a quick point for the keys they use the most. The special key above the number pad that opens the Acer's NitroSense application is also highlighted.

The keyboard creates a great typing experience, with silent answering keys when pressed but not mushrooms. My only complaint is that the Shift key should be shortened to include a dedicated number pad, but the only key you are forced to make is such a sacrifice. Four arrow keys with full size, which is more important for gamers than the Shift key.

The touchpad presses the mouse buttons and is open and responsive. It is very strong when you touch the touch pad, but I would say it is better to be firm than to feel tight and stressed.

The 15.6-inch, non-touch, IPS display features an excellent 1,920 × 1,080 resolution and 60Hz refresh rate. Glossy screen coverings can allow colors to stand out more. The matte finish means that you are not bothered by light and brightness on the screen, but the colors look dim and muted. Measured at 300 nits, the display is bright enough but best suited for a dark cave or base under a bright table in the sun. Still, it looked a little brighter than the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3i display.

Similarly, Nitro 5’s 2-watt stereo speakers provide slightly higher noise than the 1.5-watt speakers in the IdeaPad Gaming 3i. However, gamers and music listeners will want to keep a set of headphones available. The sound output is weak, with a slight separation between the middle and upper waves and a weak bass response.

Acer Niro 5 Gamin Laptop Full Review

Above the display sits a 720p webcam, and it's not good at all. This photo is stunningly made with pixels, and has no cover cover.

The Nitro 5 is bigger and heavier than the IdeaPad Gaming 3i, but it also doesn't make the laptop suitable for everyday use. At 14.3 inches wide by 10 inches deep and 0.9 inches wide, the Nitro 5 is smaller than IdeaPad, but wider and deeper. Nitro 5 forces you to carry a few ounces, weighing 4.8 pounds and 4.5-pound Gaming 3i.

The Nitro 5 offers practical portable options: USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, mic / headphone combo jack, and Ethernet jack sitting on the left, while on the right, you'll find an HDMI 2.0 port, USB 3.2 Type-C port and - USB 3.2 Gen 2 port. The power connection is centered on the back edge of the laptop. (Flexible and confusing word for USB names: USB 3.2 Gen 1 was previously known as USB 3.1 Gen 1 and offers speeds of up to 5 Gbps. USB 3.2 Gen 2 was previously known as USB 3.1 Gen 2 and supports speed of -10 Gbps.)

Remove the 11 small screws and you can exit the bottom panel to get more memory and storage options. There is an open space for DIMM to expand laptop memory, and there is also a free 2.5-inch SATA drive bar to install an expandable drive to increase computer storage capacity throughout our 256GB SSD test system. IdeaPad Gaming 3i has a wide variety of expansion options; in addition to the free DIMM space and 2.5-inch drive bay, and offers a free M.2 connector to add a second PCIe SSD.

Acer Nitro 5 - Working with Gaming

Our Acer Nitro 5 test system has an AMD Ryzen 5 4600H processor, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, and graphics for the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650. The Ryzen 5 4600H CPU provides six cores and 12 processing cables at a frequency of -3.0GHz and Max Boost frequency of 4.0GHz. The GeForce GTX 1650 is a low-end GPU of the previous generation of Nvidia processor processors with 4GB of VRAM without the real-time tracking assistance available in the current GeForce RTX GPUs.

For comparison, I have included the performance of the Nitro 5 bench in comparison to another budget sports laptop, the $ 880 Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3i. It features a GeForce GTX 1650 GPU similar to 8GB of RAM but uses an Intel Core i 7-10750H, which has the same number of cores and threads as the Nitro 5's Ryzen 5 4600H chip but includes a low frequency (2.6GHz) but a very low frequency ( 5GHz).

These two budget players have sold fists in all tests, but Nitro 5 has an advantage where it matters most: 3D graphics performance. Nitro 5 was a step behind IdeaPad Gaming 3i on PCMark 10 but it was better for both of them with 3DMark. On our play benches, the Nitro 5 was slower than the Heavenly bench but sent better frames than the IdeaPad at Borderlands 3, All War: Three Kingdoms and Metro Exodus.

I also played Fortnite and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, two non-essential games equal to the budget GPU. At 1080p, I was able to run at 60-65 fps for Fortnite with Epic settings, and I always hit 140 fps in CS: GO with higher settings. Those two frames are better than what I found with the IdeaPad Gaming 3i. Both of these budget programs offer playable, full-screen frames, but Nitro 5 does just that while being more expensive under IdeaPad Gaming 3i.

Acer Nitro 5 - Battery life

The Nitro 5 also has an important belt for battery life. 9 hours 40 hours spent on PCMark battery testing while IdeaPad Gaming 3i lasts only 5 hours 32 minutes.

Acer Nitro 5 - Software

The Nitro 5 is not loaded with bloatware, which is nice when the storage capacity is high. The 256GB SSD of our test system does not leave much space for anything like a local game library. A game or two? Certainly. Sports library? Unless you add a second drive.

Acer installs its own Nitro Sense system that provides basic controls and will probably never open again. You can change the speed of the cooling fans, change the default Auto setting to Max or customize. For Max, the fans run completely and have a lot of noise. And if Max doesn't have enough, you can install Cool Boost, which increases the speed at which fans can move around in Auto mode.

Nitro Sense also offers a large area where you can monitor the CPU and GPU, and there is a small panel that provides access to powerful Windows or AC power systems. In Settings, there is a switch button to turn off the keyboard light after 30 seconds or make them permanent.
